Hello San Francisco!
After 2 days at the Bulldog Reporter 2008 conference I feel enlightened and hopeful. There were tons of editors from great outlets who were all open and honest about what we PR professionals do are doing right and more importantly what we are doing wrong.
T
he key takeaways for me we're these:
1. Video is huge...EVERYTHING needs to have video.
2. When dealing with reporters be honest, authentic, and do not just provide a press release with a product...provide proof of a TREND (that is unless you're pitching Dwell, because if you are just forget it... they're not into our breed)
The most mind shattering speaker was definitely Duncan Wardle of Disney. He had tons of great examples of super successful new media campaigns, and encouraged us all to take a chance. Although clients may be nervous about diving into the pool of new media its important that we push it!
I am totally energized from the conference and feel like I have heaps of info to bring back to the office...so pat yourselves on the back Bulldog (because I know you probably will be monitoring for feedback tomorrow :)
